Wilson Loop and Dimensional Reduction in Non-Commutative Gauge Theories
Using the AdS/CFT correspondence we study UV behavior of Wilson loops in various noncommutative gauge theories. We get an area law in most cases and try to identify its origin. In D3 case, we may identify the the origin as the D1 dominance over the D3: as we go to the boundary of the AdS space, the effect of the flux of the D3 charge is highly suppressed, while the flux due to the D1 charge is ...
متن کاملDeconstructed Higher Dimensional Gauge Theories
The idea of deconstructing higher dimensional gauge theories is reviewed. Its several potential physical applications are also discussed. Higher dimensional gauge theories o er interesting new tools to understand the roots of the Standard Model. Among other things, gauge symmetries can be broken by compacti cation process on singular manifolds, e.g. on orbifolds. Moreover compacti cation on orb...
متن کاملTwo Dimensional Gauge Theories Revisited
Two dimensional quantum Yang-Mills theory is reexamined using a non-abelian version of the Duistermaat-Heckman integration formula to carry out the functional integral. This makes it possible to explain properties of the theory that are inaccessible to standard methods and to obtain general expressions for intersection pairings on moduli spaces of flat connections on a two dimensional surface. ...
متن کاملDimensional Reduction of ten - dimensional Supersymmetric Gauge Theories in the N = 1 , D = 4 Superfield Formalism
A ten-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory is written in terms of N = 1, D = 4 superfields. The theory is dimensionally reduced over six-dimensional coset spaces. We find that the resulting four-dimensional theory is either a softly broken N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theory or a non-supersymmetric gauge theory depending on whether the coset spaces used in the reduction are non-symmetric or sy...
متن کاملSupersymmetric Nonlinear Sigma Models as Gauge Theories
Supersymmetric nonlinear sigma models are obtained from linear sigma models by imposing supersymmetric constraints. If we introduce auxiliary chiral and vector superfields, these constraints are expressed by D-terms and F-terms depending on the target manifolds. Auxiliary vector superfields appears as gauge fields without kinetic terms. If there is no D-term constraints, the target manifolds ar...
